Code Review
If you have just commissioned a new website you need to know it won't suddenly
stop working, and that it is secure against hackers. One of the most important
activities in the Software Development lifecycle is Technical Review, where
programmers inspect one another's code to find errors and security
vulnerabilities.
All too often, web development is done with only one person working on the code,
and consequently the Website scripts are never reviewed.
Website Repairs offer a Technical Review service, which includes:
-
Code inspection – your website is examined at the source code level for
errors, security vulnerabilities, back-doors, ease of maintenance and
redundant code.
-
Database Analysis – is your website's database optimised for the tasks
required? Does it best support the application? Are there any inefficiencies
which will slow down your site, either now or in the future? Is the database
properly normalised?
-
Security Audit – check that all forms are protected against hacking attacks.
Check that “contact us” and similar forms cannot be used by spammers to
send spam from your website. Check that the site
is protected against SQL Injection attacks.
-
Browser compatibility – different browsers can sometimes display sites
differently. A site which looks good in Internet Explorer can be a complete
mess in Firefox, Opera or others. I check your site will display correctly
in multiple browsers.
If you have a new website for your business contact me
to arrange a technical review.
